Accelerated Reader - Bowie participates in Accelerated Reader Program - Students read AR books and then test their comprehension. The students are awarded points and later trade points for activities and rewards.

Early Literacy - Kindergarten uses the early literacy method. This method helps students become beginning readers.

Shurley Method- This language arts program helps students learn grammar and parts of speech through rhymes and rhythms.

Scouting - Bowie supports Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting

Passport Reading Intervention- program to help reading

Honor Choir - Meets on Thursday after school

Sports - Activities by the season - Dates are Announced

Computer Club - Meets Monday after school  (Schedule)

We recycle computer printer ink cartridges and laser cartridges.

We also recycle cell phones.

They may be sent to the computer lab.

General Mills Box Tops for Education - We collect the Box Tops for Education Logos off of participating General Mills Products. Some Box Top for Education Logos are worth 10¢ to the school. We use the money toward needed supplies and rewards for the students.

        

Campbell's Labels for Education - Campbell's labels for Education Program lets Bowie redeem labels, lids, and other specified parts of products for points. About Our Name

About Our School's History  
          

James "Jim" Bowie was a hero of the Alamo. It was where an important battle was fought during the Texas Revolution. For more information on James Bowie or the Alamo use the following links.

Bowie started out in portables. Mr. Bill Roach was the principal for Bowie and Wester. Students and teachers were there as the school was built. On moving day students, parents, staff and teachers moved the materials from the portables to the new building. Mrs. Pat Farrar was the first school secretary.

Bowie has had five principals. Mr. Bill Roach, Mr. Joe Williams, Mr. Denzil Minyard, Chris Brown, and Mrs. Anita Rangel.
