Bowie Elementary Parental Involvement Policy

2007-2008

The Title I Parental Involvement section of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requires each Title I school to jointly develop with and distribute to parents of participating children, a written parental involvement policy. The purpose of Title I is to provide activities and services which support students in meeting the state‘s academic standards.

Schools receiving Title I, Part A funds must implement programs and activities for the involvement of parents. In order to build a dynamic home-school partnership, Bowie Elementary will implement the following parental involvement activities:

Activities

To include parents as full partners in their children’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision- making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their children.

To inform parents about academic achievement standards, the school curriculum and instructional practices; school programs, extracurricular activities, attendance, student’s academic performance; and requirements for student placement and high school graduation.

To provide materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve their children’s academic achievement such as literacy training, and using technology, as appropriate, to foster parental involvement.
