What Is A Middle Schooler?

What is a Middle Schooler?

I was asked one day

I knew what he was

But what should I say?

He is noise and confusion

He is silence that is deep

He is sunshine and laughter

Or a cloud that will weep

He is swift as an arrow

He is a waster of time

He wants to be rich

But can not save a dime

He is rude and nasty

He is polite as can be

He wants parental guidance

But fights to be free

He is aggressive and bossy

He is timid and shy

He knows all the answers

but still will ask "why"

He is awkward and clumsy

He is graceful and poised

He is ever changing

But not to be annoyed

What is a Middle Schooler?

I was asked one day

He is the future unfolding

So do not stand in his way

Taking Care of Business!

Our theme this year is "Taking Care of Business". Mackenzie Raiders are learning to take care of business by being on time, having supplies and homework, taking notes home, treating others with respect, and doing their best quality work.

A Message to Parents

We are very excited about being a middle school. Middle school is a very interesting and significant transition time in your student's life. It is not a big elementary and it is not a little high school. It is a world in itself. Middle school is set up to take care of kids according to where they are developmentally.

Sometimes this age can be a challenge for parents. As your child goes through early adolescence their focal point will move from parents to friends. They will do a "come close/no get away" dance with you. They are trying to seek independence but will need supervision more than ever. They want freedom but need structure.

We encourage you to stay involved in their lives, ask questions, come to school, and know their friends. This is a very important time to stay connected!!! We are here because we love working with middle school age kids and helping them through this awkward stage of life.
