Our school counselor is Mrs. Shepherd. She enrolls all students in the Parenting Program (also known as New Directions) and she also enrolls other students as needed as. Her phone number is 766-1310.

      She analyzes each student's records as they arrive from their home schools, organizes TAKS review classes and conducts the testing itself each semester. She informs students and parents about TAKS testing. Students are notified of their test scores as that information becomes available to her. This testing is done for several days each semester and is required by State law. To receive a high school diploma in the State of Texas, all students must pass all parts of the TAKS test or be exempt through the channels as outlined by the counselor.

      TAKS testing dates:
        Fall testing is in October of each year.
        Spring testing is in February and April of each 
        year.
        Summer testing is in July of each year.
        Other dates as announced by the counselor.

        Currently, the next TAKS testing dates are
        October 23-26, 2007.
        If you are an out of school student, call Mrs. 
        Shepherd to let her know you want to test at that
        time.

      On a weekly basis, Mrs. Shepherd coordinates representatives from WIC and Medicaid. She is the coordinator of weekly counseling sessions known as Lunch Bunch groups which meet one day a week during lunch.

      Mrs. Shepherd is a graduate of Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas.
