      Matthews Alternative High School, Lubbock Independent School District houses several programs for students who have not completed high school These include:

1) Matthews Alternative High School (Individualized 
    Instruction option)
2) Parenting Program (also known as New Directions)
    for pregnant teenagers and teen mothers
3) a licensed day care center on campus which can
    be used by any student in LISD
4) Matthews Evening High School
5) Classes in the PLATO computer assisted learning
    lab.

Registration for classes continues throughout the school year.

       GED and Adult Education programs are no longer located in the Matthews building. They are now both located at the Lomax Center which is just east of 24th Street and Avenue Q. Contact these programs at 806/766-1540.

       Also housed in the Matthews Alternative High School is the district's Library Media Services Center.
