Welcome to Mrs. Linker’s First Grade!! We will have a great year sailing around the world and making new friends. Get your backpacks and school supplies ready and let’s set sail on a great adventure.

Welcome to first grade and to my classroom. My name is Barbara Lara, and I have taught school for 22 years. I have two daughters and a new granddaughter who was born in April. I also have two dachshund puppies, Mayer and Zorro. I am very excited about starting a new school year and watching my first graders grow. In first grade this year we will be using the Voyager Reading Program. Your child will bring home papers each night that you will need to listen to him or her read. Your child will also bring a folder home each week with his or her papers and behavior information in it. We get to have three parties in first grade—Christmas, Valentine and End of School. First graders also have their parents come eat Thanksgiving Dinner with them. I invite you to come to the Open House before school begins so that your child can see the classroom and meet me before the first day of school. At that time you can also sign up for a GOALS conference. I am sure that together we can make this a great school year.
