FROM
THE SCHOOL NURSE
Dear
Parents,
We
have several confirmed cases of strep throat at Roscoe Wilson.
Here
are some things you can do to help prevent your child from getting sick
or prevent re-infection of strep throat.
-
Have your
child change to new toothbrush 24 -48 hours after starting the
antibiotic.
-
If your child
is showing any symptoms of strep throat, such as headache,
stomachache, sore throat, or low grade fever please keep them at
home and have them evaluated by a doctor.
-
If your child
does have strep throat, they must be on antibiotics for 24 hours
before coming back to school. They must also be fever free for
24 hours, without fever reducing medication before coming back to
school. Same with vomiting and diarrhea, they must be free of both
for 24 hours before returning to school. This will help stop the
spread of strep throat or any other illness.
-
We teach the
children to cover their mouths with the inside of their elbows when
they cough or sneeze, please encourage them to do the same at home.
Thank you for helping to keep our kids healthy and safe.
