The Texas Education Agency (TEA) rates
each district and campus based on test scores and data compiled at the
close of each school year. Results, which are based on the more rigorous Texas
Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), the State-Developed
Alternative Assessment II (SDAA II), and completion or dropout rates, were released by the State
August 1, 2007, indicating Ratings before Appeals for each district and campus.
Final Ratings, along with the Gold Performance
Acknowledgments, will be published by the Texas Education
Agency in October, 2007.
The four ratings issued by the Texas
Education Agency are Exemplary (the highest rating),
Recognized, Academically Acceptable, and Academically
Unacceptable
(Explanation of State
Ratings). Campuses who are issued an Unacceptable
rating may receive an Acceptable rating by meeting the absolute standards or by showing enough
improvement on the deficient indicators to meet the accountability
standard in two years. If a campus receives the lowest rating for
two consecutive years or more, the level of state intervention
increases. Special campus intervention teams have been put
in-place to address identified concerns at each Unacceptable
campus. The lowest accountability measure determines the
accountability rating for the District and each campus.
