Tubbs art students take part in several exhibits throughout the year.

In September, students show their work at the South Plains Fair. In December, their work is displayed in the east hallway of the Lubbock Independent School District's Central Office Building. During the month of March, which is Youth Art Month, work is exhibited at Mahon Library. Tubbs students participate in the Lubbock Arts Festival.

A champion and runner-up receive trophies for their achievement. The champion goes on to participate in the
LISD Spelling Bee in February held at Irons Junior High School.

Play Day

Play Day is held every year in May at Tubbs to focus on the importance of physical education. Outdoor activities include the Airhouse, potato sack races, tug of war, tether ball, and a water balloon toss. Inside the gym, students can participate in a cake walk, face painting, and students in grades K-3 have a bean bag toss. All students bring sack lunches and are treated to a magic show the last 30 minutes of Play Day!

K-TUB TV

Students at Tubbs Elementary stay informed through the daily broadcast of K-TUB TV.
The broadcast is run by nominated students from fourth and fifth grades.  The crew serves as news anchors, makes graphic slides and video, runs the cameras, switcher, sound board, teleprompter, and computer to produce the show aimed at our student audience. All positions are rotated each six weeks so everyone can understand how broadcast productions are created and presented. Tubbs is a Communications Magnet School.
