Alderson—Success, one step at a time.

Early Years

My dogs were very important to me as I grew up probably because I had no brothers and sister.

My first dog Bandit was a German Shepherd.  I dressed him and read to him.  Not only did he stand in the corner with me when I was in trouble, he protected me from the hard ground during a seizure.

We had to give him away when we moved to a small apartment.  I missed him terribly.  When I was six, my grandparents gave me a black and white Cockapoo.  I named him Pockets after my favorite book.  We had to give him away as well.  I didn’t get another dog until I was 10.

Golden Books—Real Records

I spent hours reading and listening to my 45s with stories like Thumbellina and Pokey Little Puppy.

Dr. Seuss was my favorite author though.  I loved his silly rhymes and still own Are You My Mother and Horton Lays an Egg.

As I got older, I didn’t enjoy reading as much.  Now that I am older, I enjoy reading the right books for me.  My favorite author is James Patterson.  I especially enjoy the Alex Cross novels.  If you have ever seen the movie Along Came A Spider or Kiss The Girls, then you too are already familiar with Patterson’s work.

I have tried to also be more aware of the great Young Adult Literature so I can better guide students in their reading quests.  Click on the links below to see some of those books!
