My Writing Literacy

In 1994, I was invited to join the New Mexico State Writing Project where I spent three weeks in a writing workshop with other area teachers.

It was at this point that writing became therapeutic as much as a source of communication.

Prior to this project, I was awarded the Silver Paperclip award by peers in a creative writing class.  I also published two articles in the NMSU newspaper.

In 2003, I was invited to join the New Jersey Writing Project in Amarillo, TX where I spent three weeks in yet another writing workshop with other area teachers.  However, each experience was completely unique as was my writing as I matured.

At this point in my life, my writing was focused more upon my relationship with my daughters.

I believe that everyone has a special and unique story to tell.  It’s up to them to find their own words.
