"Trey" Hayes , Head High School Coach
Coach
Hayes enters his seventh year as head swimming coach for
LISD. He is a former Coronado swimmer that was a team
captain and all-state swimmer in the 100 backstroke and
200 medley relay. He swam at Northeast Louisiana University
where he served as team captain both his junior and senior
years. He broke school records in four different events
and was a five-time NIC conference champion. He received
his bachelor degree in social studies education. Coach
Hayes’ high school coaching career started as the
assistant swim coach for Amarillo Independent School District.
After leaving Amarillo, he served as head junior high
coach for LISD and assistant coach for the high school
team. As the junior high head coach, one of his teams
won the junior high state championship in 1999, and he
had several other teams finish in the top three at the
state meet. In 2001, Coach Hayes was named LISD head high
school coach. His teams have won twelve district team titles,
and in 2007 his Lubbock High girls won the regional championship. Coach
Hayes has had over 100 district champions, 25 regional
champions, 40 Academic All-Americans and 22 all-state
swimmers. Coach Hayes has been named District Coach of
the Year twelve times and has been named boys’ Regional
Coach of the Year four times and girls' Regional coach of the year two times. Coach Hayes and his wife April have two children Tyler and Reagan. |

Penny
DiPomazio, Head Diving Coach
Coach DiPomazio has both high school and college diving experience. She was a bronze medal winner in the Southern Illinois University v. Mexico National Team in 1980. Coach DiPomazio has coaching experience in both Indiana and Texas, qualifying divers in both states for the High School State Finals. She has also been a district coach of the year 14 times and a region coach of the year 8 times. While in Lubbock, she has coached 10 divers to 21 all-American titles. At the junior high level she has had many state champions. Coach DiPomazio has also had 12 divers qualify for 20 different United States National Competitions and 8 AAU national competitions. In addition to her coaching duties, Coach DiPomazio also serves as the Texas diving judges certification chairman. She is a past Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Diving chairman. Currently, she is the Secretary of the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association and a Texas Delegate to the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association. |

Laura
Kirkpatrick, Head Middle School Swimming Coach
Coach
Kirkpatrick has lived in West Texas all of her life and
in Lubbock for the past 34 years. She received her B.S.
at West Texas State University and her M.A. at Texas Tech.
The first 15 years of her career in education was spent
as a high school math teacher. She has been a middle school
swimming coach for L.I.S.D. for the past 15 years. During
that time, Coach Kirkpatrick has seen the program expand
from two schools to ten and has helped coach teams to
several state championships. Currently, she is the head
coach for our seventh and eighth grade programs. Coach
Kirkpatrick believes technique is all-important and swimmers
have to embrace that idea to be truly successful. She
and her husband Mike have two grown children, Kellye and
Steven, who swam for L.I.S.D. |

Amy
Suttles, Head Junior Varsity and Assistant Middle School Coach
Coach
Suttles grew up in southwest New Mexico and attended New
Mexico State University. While earning her Bachelors degree
in Community Health Education at NMSU, she swam for the
women’s team and was a conference finalist all four
years. After moving to Lubbock in 2001, Coach Suttles
became an assistant junior high swimming coach for LISD.
While coaching, she attended Texas Tech University, receiving
her teaching credentials. Currently in her 7th year with
our program, Coach Suttles is heading up the High School Junior Varisty
swimming program. She hopes to show her passion for the
sport through her coaching technique and will continue
to motivate her swimmers to reach their full potential.
Coach Suttles and her husband Ryan consider their greatest
accomplishments to be their two children, Carter and Kendal. |

Holly
Lambert, Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach
Coach Lambert has been a resident of Lubbock, Texas her entire life. Her career began as a very successful diver for Monterey High School. She was a regional finalist for three consecutive years. She also competed for Lubbock Dive Club at the regional level. Coach Lambert was a part time assistant diving coach with LISD for four years. While she was coaching, she attended Texas Tech University and received her B.S. degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences, with a minor in Health. Currently, she is in her fourth year as a full time assistant coach in diving. In addition to working with LISD, Coach Lambert has been a coach for Lubbock Dive Club for eight years. She has definitely contributed to the success of both programs. Coach Lambert brings youth and excitement to our coaching staff. |

Michele
Matticks, Assistant Junior Varsity Swim Coach Coach
Matticks joined the LISD Swimming and Diving staff in
August of 2005. Coach Matticks spent 5 years developing
the Odessa High School Swimming and Diving program. At
Odessa, Coach Matticks increased participation in the
program, established new school records, improved district
standings, created swimming and Diving in the junior highs,
and set state records in the junior high program. Coach
Matticks assisted with swimming at the University of Houston
and is a former Texas Tech Swimmer.
