How do LISD Online Courses work?
You must
have access to the Internet and a computer as well as have the required
software needed for the course being taken. You will access your
course via your web browser during times that are convenient with your
schedule (during the online session). Our classes are designed
to be self-paced, and there are definite beginning and ending times as well as
specific dates that assignments must be turned in. They are
designed, however, for you to work assignments ahead of the deadline
schedule. For the most part, you will do your reading offline and
online, turn in assignments, interact with other online students via a
discussion board, and interact with the instructor via email. Online
courses are designed to be flexible.
-
Do I have to access my class at the
same time everyday?
No, but you
will have to access your class several times a week at times that are
convenient to you. This will help you keep on top of deadlines and
assignments that are due.
-
How do I receive my username and
password for the course?
Once you
have registered online by filling out the registration form, then you will
receive all instructions about your course via email from then on.
Your username and password will be either emailed out to you before the course
session begins, or it will be in a packet of materials for you to pick up. If there is a problem with your login/password, then
you will need to email or call the Online Coordinator to get things
corrected.
-
Whose email address should I use on the
registration form?
The
registration form that is submitted online requires a working email
address. This will be the email address that will be replied back to
with specific info concerning the online course and materials. We
suggest that the email in the form be a parent email address so that all
communications can be received by the parent. Student email
addresses may be used in the form, but make sure that the email account
that is used is checked frequently for info concerning the course.
-
How do I take my final exam for an
online course?
All online
final exams are scheduled for the last day of the session. Students
will be asked to take their exam "online" (from a home or school computer)
for their course between 9 am and 9 pm that day. Materials and
textbooks will also need to be checked into the person, place, and date
specified in the course announcements.
