In order to use Blackboard (our online Computer System), students will need access to:

  • A Pentium II (or higher processor) computer

  • 64 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM) minimum

  • Mouse

  • An Internet Connection (outside of firewalls -- firewalls may cause connection problems using Blackboard and downloading files)

  • A web browser (Internet Explorer (IE) 4.5 or higher)

    • Note:  Internet Explorer 6 is the standard, and works most fluently with Blackboard and the documents provided by instructors.  IE can be downloaded from the Microsoft website free of charge.

  • A working Email account that can be accessed and checked frequently.  Please make sure that the email account will allow for new users (like the instructors) to email you, the student, through this account.  So if Parental Controls are set to not allow unknown emails to come in, then that will need to be changed for the duration of the online course.

If students have home computer problems to occur, they may come to the Advanced Technology Center (34th and Ave. Q) to use a computer.  The Center is closed on the weekends and will not be available at that time for online students.  Students may also make arrangements at their home high school to use a computer on their campus.
