Process for taking an Online Course:
  1. Assess the motivation and technical skills that the student has before taking an online course.  This can be done by clicking on the "Are You Ready" button to the left and having the student click on the Assessment link to see how they fare in the needed skills.
  2. Make sure that the student has the hardware and software requirements on the computer that will be used to take the course.
  3. The Counselor at the student's home school should be contacted for approval before registering for any online course.
  4. Once Counselor approval is met, the Online Registration Form needs to be submitted within the registration period for the upcoming session.  Click on the Registration Form button to the left to see and fill out the form information.
  5. Make sure that the email address that is placed in the Registration form is a working email and that there are no typos in that address.  That will be the email address that will be replied back to with important info concerning the online courses wanting to be taken.
  6. Make sure that the email address that is used is checked daily so that info can be received in a timely manner before the online session begins.

Important Online Course Information:

  • All of our online courses allow students to work "ahead of the game" if they would like to.  Our courses are self-paced, but with guidelines and deadlines that must be met throughout the session so that students know what they should have completed in that timeframe in order to complete the course on time.  This also prevents students from waiting until the last minute in order to turn in all assignments.
  • Students will typically have as much work to complete online as they would have to complete in a regular classroom environment.
  • All instructor contact will be via email.  If a student falls behind in meeting the necessary deadlines, then a phone call will be made to the student/parent.
  • Students must complete all assignments 2 days before the final exam day (which is the last day of the online course session).  This allows for teachers to have all assignments graded and returned before the student takes the final exam.
  • The Final Exams will be taken "online" during a timeframe on the last day of the session.  Typically the exam will be open from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm on that day so that students have ample time to take the timed exam.
