Parent Compact
Title 1 Requirements
The most recent law that affects Title 1 is the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001(NCLB).
A Title 1 campus must have a written parental involvement policy.
Parents are asked to be involved in the design, operation & evaluation of Title 1.
Parents are encouraged to be consistent about home/school activities.
Campus is asked to have a copy of the Title 1 law on file.
Parental Involvement activities should be presented in the language spoken by the majority of the Title 1 parents.
Teachers and paraprofessionals must be “highly qualified” based on NCLB.
Teacher’s Responsibilities
Maintain high expectations for every child to learn and to achieve.
Treat all children and families with respect and dignity.
Provide a variety of options for parents to collaborate in the teaching of their children.
Participate in school activities designed to help students and parents.
Establish a classroom environment that is safe, well disciplined, respectful, and promotes learning to meet the needs of each student.
Parent Responsibilities
Send their child to school every day, on time, well rested, and prepared to learn.
Take an active interest in their child’s schoolwork.
Provide a place & an opportunity for their child to complete their homework.
Actively support their child’s school by participating in campus activities.
Model respectful and good behavior for their child.
Student Responsibilities
Do homework every day and ask for help when needed.
Work hard and do their best.
Be respectful of other students and adults.
Attend school daily and on time.
Come to school prepared to learn with the necessary supplies and attitude.
Bayless Elementary School Parental Involvement Policy
2007-2008
The Title I Parental Involvement section of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB )requires each Title I school to jointly develop with and distribute to parents of participating children, a written parental involvement policy. The purpose of Title I is to provide activities and services which support students in meeting the state’s academic standards.
Schools receiving Title I, Part A funds must implement programs and activities for the involvement of parents. In order to build a dynamic home-school partnership, Bayless Elementary will implement the following parental involvement activities:
