Bean began implementing Voyager Universal Literacy System in the fall of 2003 in order to satisfy the No Child Left Behind Act.  Voyager is a scientifically based reading program that is taught in Bean's kindergarten through third grade classrooms.  Voyager utilizes an Interventionist to strengthen literacy skills of struggling readers by providing small group instruction in addition to classroom instruction. Teachers are supported and provided professional development opportunities by Bean's Voyager Coach.  Voyager is implemented in 17 other L. I.S.D. elementary schools in order to provide instructional consistency.
