Nine students
from Coronado High School were named Commended Scholars in the
2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. To qualify for a
Commended Scholar, the students scored in the top five percent
of more than 1.4 million students who took the Preliminary
SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
In releasing
the names, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
spokesperson said, “The young people named Commended Students
are distinguished by their strong academic performance in this
rigorous competition. Our nation’s pursuit of educational
excellence can be furthered by publicly honoring these
outstanding students and by acknowledging the important role
schools play in fostering their development.”
