Matador Expectations & Core Values

  1. Be in assigned seat/area ready to work when the tardy bell rings.

  2. Bring paper, pencil, pens, and books everyday.

  3. HFBO-Keep hands, feet, books, and objects to yourself.

  4. No profanity, obscene gestures, cruel teasing, or putdowns.

  5. Follow all directions.

  6. Respect all people and property.

  1. Always say, "May I, Please, and Thank you" when making requests or receiving services.

             

Addresses

If a student's address or any pertinent contact information changes, it is very important to inform the front office immediately.

 

Attendance

Attendance is the responsibility of the student and is necessary for success in school.  If a student must miss school time due to illness or a family emergency, a parent/guardian needs to call in to report the absence.  It is the responsibility of the student to ask his/her teachers for any missed assignments.  One day will be provided to complete the missed assignments for every excused day of absence.  This applies to one-period absences as well as full day absences.  parents/guardians call 806-766-1400 to report absences.  If phoning is not possible, bring a note to the attendance office before 8:30 AM the morning you return.

 

Cafeteria

Breakfast is served each morning from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM.  Students who arrive to school early should report to the cafeteria until the school bell rings.

 

Conduct and Discipline

Students are expected to follow the Lubbock ISD Student Code of Conduct and Matador Expectations/Core Values.

 

Dress Code

The student and parent may determine the student's personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the general guidelines state below.

  1. 1. Clothing (dresses , skirts, and shorts) must meet standards of good taste as determined by the building principal.

  2. Oversized clothing shall not be worn.

  3. Solid colored T-shirts shall not be worn.

  4. Revealing or see-through clothing may not be worn without a shirt underneath or a piece of clothing over it.

  5. Shoes must be worn at all times.  House shoes are not acceptable footwear for school.

  6. Appropriate undergarments shall be worn at all times.

  7. Jewelry that depicts weapons, drugs, or profanity may not be worn.

  8. Clothing must cover the student's body at all times.

  9. Hats, wave caps, and bandanas shall not be worn.

  10. Hair shall be clean, well-groomed, and shall not cover the eyes.  The hairstyle shall not create a classroom distraction.  A variety of hairstyles shall be permitted if the following extremes are avoided:  Unusual patterns shaved, cut, or braided in the hair, notches in eyebrows, extreme color variations in hair, or longer than shoulder length (for boys).

  11. Sideburns shall be kept trimmed so as not to form a beard, level to the lips, and shall not be extreme in fullness.  Mustaches shall be acceptable if neatly trimmed.  Beards are not acceptable.

  12. The next opening of any type shirt may not exceed the equivalent of the second button below the collar of a shirt.  Underwear type shirts such as tank tops or muscle shirts shall not be worn.

  13. Students may not ear facial studs, facial rings, or tongue bars.

  14. Male students shall not wear earrings, ponytails, or beads in hair.

Electronic Devices

Cell phones, pagers, CD players, walkmans, MP3 players, and laser pointers are not allowed on school campus.  The first time a student is found to be possessing on of the previous items, the item will be confiscated and the student may pick it up from the office at the end of the school day.  The second time a student is found with an electronic device prohibited above, the item will be confiscated and a parent will have to come pick it up from the office.

 

Eligibility for Extracurricular Activities

To be eligible for participation in extracurricular activities, a student must be passing all classes at the end of each six weeks.

 

Immunizations

In order to be admitted to the Lubbock Independent School District, students must have written evidence of all necessary immunizations.

 

Late Academic Bus

A late bus will leave the campus at 5:00 PM daily.  The student must have a pass from a teacher to be allowed to ride the bus.  The bus will deliver the student to their home bus stop.

 

Library

Students are encouraged to utilize the library from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.  Students who visit the library during school hours must have a pass from a teacher.

 

Lockers

Estacado High School does not utilize lockers.  Students must bring all necessary materials to class on a daily basis.

 

Loitering

Students must be off campus by 4:15 PM daily unless involved in an after school activity.

 

Lost and Found

Any items that are lost or found can be turned in or claimed in the front office.

 

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parents/guardians are welcome to make an appointment for a parent/teacher conference by calling the front office at 806-766-1400.

 

Parking Areas

All student vehicles must be parked in the designated area west of the school building.  Students must have a valid driver's license and register the vehicle with Mr. Jalomo.  Vehicles not registered may be towed at the owner's expense.

 

Restrooms

Students may use the restroom before and after school, during passing periods, and during lunchtime.  Students are expected to keep the restrooms clean and not loiter. Students may use the restroom during instruction time, policies will be enforced by the teacher.

 

Report Cards

Report cards will be sent to the student's home address at the end of each six week grading period.  please keep all pertinent student information updated in the office.

 

School Nurse

The school nurse may only be seen with a pass from any teacher or in emergency situations.  If medication throughout the school day is necessary; please see the nurse for necessary forms and signatures.  The phone number for the nurse is 806-766-1345.

 

Student Services

Announcements are made daily.  Students who wish to have a school related announcement made may pick up an announcement form in the main office.  Sponsor approval is required and the form must be turned in by 4:00 PM the preceding day.

Messages will not be delivered to students from the office.  Emergency messages will be handled appropriately.

Vending machines may only be used before school and during lunch.

The telephone may be used before school and after school or during emergency situations only.

 

Tardies

If a student is tardy after  30 minutes of class, the student will be considered truant. Tardies will be handled on an individual basis.

 

Textbooks

Textbooks are furnished by the state.  The student is responsible for the care of each issued book.  When withdrawing from school or at the end of the school year, all books must be returned or paid for by the student.  Books must be covered.  Fines will be charged for damaged books.

 

Tutoring

Tutoring will be offered to each student.  See individual teacher for tutoring times.

 

Truancy

If a student is found to be truant, ISS (In-School Suspension) will be assigned.  Excessive truancies will result in an attendance conference.

 

Withdrawing from School

When withdrawing from Estacado, the student is to have a parent/guardian come to school to sign a withdraw form.  A student's record must be clear before a transcript of grades and test scores will be sent to the new school.
