EVANS NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY

INDIVIDUAL SERVICE POINTS 2007-2008

The Evans NJHS chapter emphasizes the importance of community service by each member.  Giving back to the community is a lesson we hope each member will experience.

Service credits will be earned ONLY by participating in events sponsored by Evans NJHS during the school year.  There will be NO SERVICE CREDITS earned by participating in individual activities outside of school.

All NJHS meetings will be held during the Advisory period.  Students will be expected to earn 3 service credits per semester.  A total of 6 service credits will be required for the year. Failure to earn 3 service credits by Friday, January 11, 2008, may result in termination of membership.

Service credits will not be carried over from the Fall semester to the Spring semester.

A total of 6 service credits will be required by Thursday, May 1, 2008.  Therefore, it is important for each member to plan ahead as to which Evans NJHS School sponsored events in which they want to participate. Each event equals 1 service credit.  Each NJHS member must participate in 3 of the 5 listed school sponsored events each semester.

These are the Fall NJHS sponsored events:

•  February 4th-8th  - Habitat for Humanity Project (Start collecting your empty coffee cans)

•  February  - PTA Book Drive Project

•  March 10th-14th - The Haven Project (collect items)

•  April 14th - 18th - Emergency Room Project (collect items)

• Fill bags for Project during Advisory April 22nd and 23rd

•  Courtyard cleanup Project (required)

  • Mr. Tone's Advisory - March 10th and April 21st

  • Mrs. Askins' Advisory - March 24th and May 5th

  • Mrs. Clark's Advisory - March 31st and May 12th

  • Mrs. Malouf's Advisory - April 14th and May 19th
