Assembly/Program Behavior Expectations and Procedures

 

The student will:

 

-Use the restroom before coming to the assembly/program.

 

-Enter the gym/program area quietly.

 

-Remain seated during assembly/program with feet on the floor

 

-Respond to indicators for silence.

 

-Follow directions given by teachers/staff members.

 

-Exit through side doors if leaving gym.

 

-Show respect to the performers by clapping your hands in an appropriate manner.

 

-Exit quietly.

 

 

 

The teacher/staff will:

 

 -Teach Assembly behavior expectations and procedures.  Practice and reteach behaviors as necessary.

 

-Take class to restroom prior to assembly/program.

 

-Stand/Sit with class in your designated area.  (See seating chart)

 

-Actively monitor students during assembly/program.

 

-Model appropriate behavior.

 

-Do not allow students to leave gym/program area except in emergencies.

 

-Monitor side exit doors should students need to leave gym for emergencies.

 

 

The parent(s) will:

 

-Cooperate with the school to ensure proper assembly/program procedures.

 

-Model appropriate behavior at all assemblies/programs.

 

-Allow students to remain for the entire program when performing.  If that is not possible, notify the classroom teacher and the fine arts teacher in writing prior to performance.

 

-If you must leave assembly/program early, sit in the least distracting place (near the exits) in order to keep distraction to a minimum. 

 

-Make sure that all children are seated in the stands with adult supervision.  Do not allow children to sit near railings.

 

-Set cell phones to silent/vibrate mode during assembly/program.

 

-All audience members should be seated in stands.  Do not stand or block exits. 

 

 

 

Consequences for Inappropriate Behavior

  1. Student will receive verbal warning from a teacher/staff member.
  2. Student will move to seat near a teacher/staff member.
  3. Student will be removed from assembly/program and will receive a “write-up” on Citizenship Record.
