Before School Expectations and Procedures

 

The student will:

 

-Report to the gym/cafeteria if arriving prior to 7:45 a.m. 

Students are not allowed to wait in foyer area.

 

-Enter through appropriate doors (gym/cafeteria entrance or main entrance). 

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students may enter through the South Building doors between 7:45 and 7:55.  The South Building Doors will be locked at 7:55.

 

- Sit quietly and work on homework or silent read from a library book. 

 

-Exit gym/cafeteria in an orderly manner. 

 

-Follow Iles Hallway expectations/procedures when going to class.

 

-Follow homeroom teacher’s morning procedures (including use of lockers) upon arrival to classroom.

 

If tardy (after 7:55 a.m.), go to office with parent and receive a tardy pass. 

 

The teacher/staff will:

 

-Teach students the expectations and procedures for Before School.  Practice and reteach behaviors as necessary. 

 

 -Stand at classroom door to monitor hallways and greet students at 7:45 a.m. 

 

-Monitor hallways to ensure that all students are following Iles Hallway expectations and procedures.   

 

-Establish and teach Morning Procedures for his/her classroom.  Ensure that students are following morning procedures.

 

-Send tardy students to office to get a tardy pass.  Document all tardies.

The parent(s) will:

 

-Have child(ren) at school by 7:55 a.m.

 

-Have child(ren) enter through appropriate doors. (gym/cafeteria entrance or main entrance ).  South building entrance for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students only.  South Building doors will be open between 7:45 and 7:55.  After 7:55, students are considered tardy.

 

-Cooperate with school to enforce Before School expectations and procedures.

 

- Walk child(ren) to office and get tardy pass  if arriving after 7:55 a.m. 

NOTE:  All doors will be locked at 7:55 a.m. except the front entrance by the office.

 

-Keep tardies to a minimum.

Remember, 3 tardies are considered an “unexcused absence” and excessive tardies will keep students from participating in special activities and clubs. 

 

 

Consequences for Inappropriate Behavior

  1. Student will receive a verbal warning from a teacher/staff member.
  2. Student will participate in Positive Practice- do the behavior again in the appropriate way.
  3. Student will receive a “write-up” on Citizenship Record.
  4. Excessive tardies will result in a discipline referral to office and will prevent students from participating in the Crusader-Raider Club and/or other events.
