Cafeteria Behavior Expectations and Procedures

 

The student will:

 

-Enter the cafeteria through the appropriate door.

 

-Walk and stand in line quietly.

 

-Gather all food and supplies

 

-Sit at designated table.

 

-Use quiet voices.

 

-Raise hand and wait for staff/adult to acknowledge them. 

 

-Follow all directions given by staff/adult supervisors.

 

The teacher/staff will:

Classroom teachers:

 -Teach expectations and procedures for cafeteria.  Practice and reteach behaviors as necessary.

-Model expectations and procedures for appropriate behaviors during the first two weeks of school.  (This means classroom teachers will be in the cafeteria with children during this initial period).

-Take class to restroom prior to designated lunch time.  Make sure students wash their hands.

-Line students up according to first, second, or third lunch choice.

-Bring and pick up class on time.

 

Lunchroom Staff:

-Assign table monitors/cleaners.

-Actively circulate to supervise students.

-Inform classroom teacher of good/poor behavior or class and any individual problems.

-Distribute Crusader Cash for outstanding behavior.

-Implement positive behavior plan for cafeteria and keep track of classroom progress.

-Inform teacher when class meets their cafeteria behavior goal. 

The parent(s) will:

 

-Discuss the expectations and procedures of Iles cafeteria with chid(ren).

 

-Turn in all appropriate forms to the cafeteria staff in a timely manner.

 

-Monitor money sent with child(ren) for extra snacks and treats.

 

-Reinforce positive behaviors with positive praise.

 

-Reinforce consequences for inappropriate behavior.

 

-If coming to eat lunch with child(ren), sign-in in the office and receive Visitor’s Pass.

 

Consequences for Inappropriate Behavior

  1. Student will receive a verbal warning from a teacher/staff member.
  2. Student will participate in Positive Practice- do the behavior again in the appropriate way.
  3. Student will complete duty assigned by supervising adult (such as child cleaning up his/her mess).
  4. Student will move to sit by him/herself in a designated “time-out” area.  Staff member will complete appropriate form and inform classroom teacher.   This will result in a “write-up” on Citizenship Record.
  5. If behavior not corrected, student will be removed from cafeteria and sent to office.  Staff will complete appropriate form and notify classroom teacher.
