Iles Dress Code Expectations and Procedures

 

The student will:

 

-Follow the Lubbock ISD Code of Conduct

-Follow the Iles Dress Code

 

BOYS:

-No “sagging” shorts or pants.  Shorts and pants must fit well enough to stay up and not expose underwear.  If shorts or pants are too big, student must wear a belt.

-No tank tops, muscle shirts, jerseys, or shirts with sleeves cut out.  If wearing a jersey, a shirt must be worn underneath.

-No patterns or designs shaved into hair.  Hair cannot be longer than shoulder length (this includes braids).  Hair must not cause a distraction to learning.  No earrings.

 

GIRLS:

- No short dresses, skirts, or shorts.  The distance between the hem of the clothing and the knee should not exceed 4 inches.

-No bare midriffs or backs.  Stomach must be completely concealed when both arms are raised.

-No thin (spaghetti) straps or low-cut tops.  Underwear must be completely concealed.

-No extremely low-rise pants.  Underwear must not show when student is seated. 

The teacher/staff will:

 

-Teach Iles/Lubbock ISD Dress Code expectations and procedures.  Reteach when necessary (especially during warm weather months).

 

-Post Iles Dress Code policies in classroom where students and parents can see them.

 

-Model appropriate school clothing.

 

-Monitor students for appropriate school clothing and dress code violations upon arrival into classroom and take immediate action when necessary.  (Be sure to check clothing concealed under jackets or coats.)

 

-Document Dress Code violations on Citizenship Record.

 

-Follow consequences for inappropriate behavior when necessary.

The parent(s) will:

 

-Review Iles/Lubbock ISD dress code policies.

 

-Send child(ren) to school in clothing that supports the Iles/Lubbock ISD policies.

 

-Bring appropriate clothing to school in a timely manner if notified by school that child is in violation of dress code. 

 

(NOTE:  If a child is sent to office for a dress code violation, parent(s) will be notified.  Student will remain in office until parent arrives with appropriate clothing.  If parent(s) cannot be reached, student will remain in ISS until parent can be contacted.)

 

Consequences for Inappropriate Behavior

Student in violation of dress code will receive a “write-up” on Citizenship Record for each offense.

  1. Verbal warning to student.  Written warning slip to parents.  Student will be given a shirt to wear to cover up or replace inappropriate clothing.  Plastic ties will be used for sagging pants or shorts.
  2. Student will be sent to office with a pass and parents will be notified.  Student will remain in office until parent arrives with appropriate clothing.
  3. Student will be written up on a discipline referral form (pink slip) and sent to office.
