Office Referral Procedures

Iles Discipline Plan (Steps)

When an Iles student violates school rules, his/her Citizenship Record will be signed and these steps will be followed:

Step 1:  Formal Warning (brief student conference about behavior)

Step 2:  Time-Out (time limit should be appropriate for grade level)

Step 3:  In-Class Isolation (for designated time period)

Step 4:  Detention (notify parents prior to detention)

Step 5:  Parent Notification

Step 6:  Office Referral (pink slip)

Any of the following behaviors will result in an immediate office referral:

Illegal acts (stealing, weapons, vandalism, etc.)

Physically Dangerous Acts (fighting, threats, sexual harassment)

Extreme Behaviors (profanity, extreme defiance)

Teachers will:

Document and date STEPS on the Citizenship Record.

Keep parents informed.

Fill out and attach “Discipline Steps” checklist to pink slip.

NOTE:  Steps are for behavior problems, not responsibility issues!

However, chronic/severe responsibility issues should be documented and used as a step.
