The success of JJAEP efforts to a great extent depends on parental and family involvement. Therefore, all adults responsible for the students are required to participate in the Parent Education program (please, see the schedule). The first 8 hours of Parent Education must be completed within 45 days of enrollment for a student to be eligible for review. If the student is on official probation, or if the student and the parent(s) are taken to court for truancy, then the parent(s) must attend 20 hours of Parent Education before the child can be eligible for review. The student will not be released from JJAEP, if he or she is not eligible for review. A follow-up counseling can be provided in the student’s home at the time convenient for all participants. When available, this program will be provided free of charge. Otherwise, a sliding minimal fee scale will be applied. A minimum of 8 hours of Parent Education is required for participation in the home counseling program. In addition to timely attending classes, parents are also required to: • Ensure that the student is at JJAEP by the first bell at 07:50 a.m., and then after school that he or she is picked up by an authorized person each day at 4:00 p.m. from JJAEP or make daily arrangements for the student to depart from the CITI-bus Downtown Transfer station located at the intersection of Broadway and Buddy Holly. • Inform JJAEP of the current home and work addresses and
telephone numbers Parents must ensure that if they pay for school lunches, they must pay for a week in advance and they must maintain a positive balance at all times. |
