Enroll in JJAEP |
In order to be placed in the program, a student must first be expelled from a public school, then, upon review, he or she should be assigned to JJAEP by the Office of The Assistant to the Superintendent, or by a court order from the Juvenile District Court. All students are interviewed at the office by the Administrative Assistant or by the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services before being placed in JJAEP for a minimum 45-, and oftentimes, a 90-day period. If the Juvenile District Court places a student in JJAEP, this placement can last for an indeterminate period of time. After the original period of placement has been successfully completed, a review is conducted at JJAEP to determine, if the student can be sent back to his or her home or a different school, or if the student’s placement should be extended for an additional period of time. School districts outside of LISD also enroll their students following the same procedure. To be eligible for a review (at the discretion of the review committee), a student must comply with the following requirements: • No pink slips • Passing all grades • Passing all drug tests • Parents completed minimum of 8 hours of Parent Education These forms can be filled out prior to your appointment for review of your child's expulsion: Request for Placement (PDF) Request for Placement (MS Word) Download free copy of Acrobat Reader to view PDF files |
