LEAP TO ACADEMIC HONORS
LEAP offers classes for academically talented students from the entire school district. Students who apply for a LEAP Advanced Placement or Pre-AP class must meet higher standards of entrance requirements that other high schools.Students meet the requirements for admission into the LEAP AP/Pre-AP Program by:
· Overall grade point average of 3.5, recommendation by present and/or former principal, and no grade below B in subject requested
· Must have passed all portions of TAASThe LISD CIMA program for gifted and talented students is incorporated into LEAP classes. A student who qualifies for LEAP AP/Pre-AP does not also have to be CIMA-qualified.

LEAP offers an opportunity for students to gain a higher grade point average because of the significantly higher number of Pre-AP and Advanced Placement courses in which students are able to earn extra grade points. LHS also has a level of advanced classes called LEAP Academic classes in which students receive one-half extra grade point per course.
LEAP TO ENRICHMENT
Students gain entry into the LEAP non-academic and enrichment courses by simple application and satisfaction of prerequisites. Students must also have passed all portions of the TAAS. Although there may be prerequisites, no special grade entrance requirements are necessary for these special interest programs scheduled only at Lubbock High School.

FOUR DAY ACADEMIC WEEK
Lubbock High School schedules a four-day academic week for all students. The four -day academic week offers strengthened and extended educational opportunities for students and teachers. Students who transfer to Lubbock High School to participate in the Lubbock Exemplary Academic Program will also benefit from the innovative Friday program. The academic schedule is an alternating block.

Friday at Lubbock High School is a flexible and individually tailored day. Each student's Friday program is based upon his/her individual needs and interests, with a minimum of four hours participation required. Friday is a day of no pressure, no grades, a relaxed atmosphere, and exciting opportunities for students and teachers.

Lubbock High School juniors and seniors who rank in the top ten percent and have an SAT score of 1180 or ACT score of 27 and are recommended by the high school staff may enroll in classes at Texas Tech University. The university classes which they complete during the junior and senior year(s) may me counted for high school credit, deferred college credit, or both. Lubbock High School also offers its students the opportunity to earn dual credit for classes taught on the L.H.S. campus.
TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE
An effective system of bus transportation carries students to the Lubbock High campus and returns them in the afternoon.
