LEAP General Information GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS   LEAP offers classes for academically talented students from the entire school district. Students who apply for a LEAP AP or LEAP Pre-AP class must meet certain criteria before he/she can enroll in that class. For admission into the leap program, a student must have: at least a 3.5 GPA and no grade below a B in the subject requested, and passed all portions of the TAAS test A student may also be admitted to Lubbock High if he/she wishes to take one of our enriched classes. These are just classes that are only offered by Lubbock High. To be admitted for enrollment in these classes, a student must have: passed all portions of the TAAS test, and met all course prerequisites   CLASSES AT TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY   Lubbock High juniors and seniors who rank in the top 10% and have an SAT score of 1180 or ACT score of 27 and are recommended by the school may enroll in classes at Texas Tech University. The classes taken my be counted for high school credit, college credit, or both.   THE FOUR DAY ACADEMIC WEEK   Lubbock High schedules a four day academic week for all students. This type of scheduling enables students to spend more time in class so that they may hopefully get more out of their classes. Since the schedule is already an alternating block, students meet in periods 1-4 Mondays and Wednesdays and periods 5-8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students get out of school at 12:00 on Fridays and classes are designed to be special interest classes.
