Purpose/Goals: To promote an active appreciation and understanding of the civilizations of Rome and Greece in an atmosphere which expands our perspectives intellectually, socially, and aesthetically.

Membership Requirements: Must be current or past student of Latin studies and a member of the Junior Classical League 

Competitions/Services/Special Projects: Area and State competitions · monthly lunch meetings, two parties yearly · civic-minded and charitable causes such as Race for the Cure



 

2005-2006 Monterey Latin Club Officers and Duties:

 

Triumvirates (Presidents): Eric McEntire, Chris Curl, Kristen Jenkins
(1)    Set dates for club meetings, keeping all officers informed
(2)    Plan programs, organize agendas for, and preside at all meetings
(3)    Oversee all projects and parties, assisting other officers in their duties, as needed
(4)    Encourage JCL Area and State Competition for all club members
Praetors (Vice Presidents): Chelsea Blanchard, Kensie Harmon
(1)    Chairs Area JCL Competition, keeping club officers and members informed
(2)    Organizes and leads service projects
(3)    Plans and/or oversees all fund-raisers (duties can be delegated)
Social Chairs: Sarah Talley, Elizabeth English
(1)    Plans and arranges details (place, invitations, etc.) for all parties
(2)    Informs and encourages all club members to participate
Secretary (Scribus): Sam Lay
(1)    Takes complete notes and reports events at meetings
(2)    Writes all correspondence
(3)    Presents a proposal to other officers for division of funds
 
Tribune (Public Announcer): Jerry Forbus
(1)    Maintains parliamentary order at all meetings
(2)    Assists presidents regarding JCL procedures
Publicity Chair: Jordan Mealem
(1)      Lets journalism know about all club functions, events, and honors.
(2)      Writes news briefs about club activities.
(3)      Keeps list of activities to inform Student Activities for recruiting efforts.
Historians (Aediles): Janice Rainwater, Ashley Ray
(1)      Gather items for a club scrapbook: news articles, pictures, schedules, party  invitations, fund-raiser info, service project souvenirs, etc.
(2)      Prepare artistic, creative scrapbook to enter in JCL state competitions.
