Varsity Results 2006/2007

The girls’ finished in a tie for third place with power house Richardson Lake Highlands and the boys’ team finished in sixth place. This is the highest any Monterey swimming and diving teams have finished in the Metroplex. The Monterey swimmers broke two pool records and two school records.

The swimming and diving teams will host the Lubbock Invitational on January 5^th & 6^th before the District Championship on January 17^th & 18^th.           

The Monterey swimming team competed in the Pecos Invitational November 11. The girls’ team finished in third place and the boys’ team finished in sixth place. The following swimmers had top six finishes: 

Girls’ 200 Medley Relay of Danielle Mooney, Jeri Cantrell, Kimberly Lundberg and Missy Starr finished in third place.

Girls’ 200 IM Missy Starr finished in fifth place.

Boys’ 200 IM Casey Nitcher finished in third place.

Girls’ 50 Freestyle Danielle Mooney finished in sixth place.

Boys’ 100 Freestyle Ryan Schneider finished in second place.

Girls’ 500 Freestyle Missy Starr finished in sixth place.

Boys’ 500 Freestyle Peter Flores finished in fifth place.

Girls’ 100 Backstroke Jeri Cantrell finished in first place and Denise Hensley finished in sixth place.

Boys’ 100 Backstroke Justin Hamby finished in third place.

Girls’ 100 Breaststroke Jeri Cantrell finished in sixth place.

Boys’ 100 Breaststroke Clayton Brake finished in fourth place and Casey Nitcher finished in sixth place.

Monterey’s next meet will be at the TISCA North Zone Invitational in Dallas, Texas.

On Friday night, The Monterey girls beat Hanks 120 to 71. The Monterey girls had plenty of standout performances; Avery Tankersley won the 200 and 500 free, Calley Parham won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Lilly Perry won the 50 and 100 freestyles, Nicole Bernussi won the 100 fly and Lilly Chapman won the 100 back. The girls also won all three relays.

On Saturday, the girls fell short against El Dorado 131 to 129.  Calley Parham won the 50 free and the 100 back. Calley’s time in the 100 back was a new school record. Avery Tankersley won the 200 Free. Nicole Bernussi won the 100 free. Lilly Chapman won the 500 free. The girls also won all three relays. 

On the boys side Friday night, Monterey boys’ beat Hanks 106 to 91. Standout performances; Ryan Schneider won the 50 free and 100 fly. Ryan’s time in the 50 free was a new MHS record. Casey Nitcher won the 200 IM. CJ Robison won the 100 free. Justin Hamby won the 100 backstroke. Peter Flores won the 500 free. Clayton Brake won the 100 breaststroke. The boys won all three relays. 

On Saturday, the boys’ beat El Dorado 124 to 121. Standout performances; Ryan Self won the 200 free. CJ Robison won the 50 free. Ryan Schneider won the 100 fly and 100 free.  Casey Nitcher won the 500 free. Clayton Brake won the 100 breaststroke. The boys won all three relays.

Lubbock Relays 2006

The swimming and diving teams competed at the Lubbock Relays this past weekend. The girls’ and boys’ teams finished in fifth place, but won several events and broke a number of meet records.

The following relays finished in the top five.

Girls’ 100 Medley Relay of Lilly Chapman, Jeri Cantrell, Missy Starr and Avery Tankersley finished in second place.

Boys’ 100 Medley Relay of Ryan Self, Clayton Brake, Casey Nitcher and Peter Flores finished in third place.

Girls’ 200 Free Relay of Calley Parham, Kinsey Wilson, Nicole Bernussi and Lilly Perry finished in first place and broke the meet record.

Boys’ 200 Free Relay of Ryan Schneider, Ryan Self, CJ Robison and Justin Hamby finished in fourth place.

Mixed 200 Medley Relay of Justin Hamby, Clayton Brake, Missy Starr and Avery Tankersley finished in third place.

Girls’ 300 Medley Relay of Nicole Bernussi, Calley Parham and Missy Starr finished in first place.

Mixed 200 Free Relay of Lilly Perry, CJ Robison, Avery Tankersley and Ryan Schneider finished in first place and set a new meet record.

Girls’ 200 Fly Relay of Nicole Bernussi, Calley Parham and Kinsey Wilson finished in first place and set a new meet record.

Girls’ 200 Backstroke Relay of Jeri Cantrell, Lilly Chapman and Avery Tankersley finished in second place.

Girls’ 200 Medley Relay of Lilly Chapman, Calley Parham, Nicole Bernussi and Kinsey Wilson finished in second place and broke an 18 year old Monterey school record.

Boys’ 200 Medley Relay of Justin Hamby, Clayton Brake, Casey Nitcher and Ryan Self finished in second place.

Boys’ 100 Free Relay of Casey Nitcher, CJ Robison, Ryan Self and Ryan Schneider finished in second place.

 In the FUN RELAYS:

Mixed 100 Dogpaddle Relay of Lilly Perry, Casey Nitcher, Kinsey Wilson and CJ Robison finished in first place.

This past weekend the Monterey swimming and diving teams competed in the 44^th annual San Angelo Invitational. The girls’ team finished in second place and the boys’ team finished in fourth place. Monterey swimmers set three new school records, Calley Parham broke the 200 Freestyle and 100 butterfly records and Ryan Schneider broke his own school record in the 100 Freestyle.

The following swimmers had top six finishes:

Girls’100 Butterfly Calley Parham finished in first place and Nicole Bernussi finished in fifth place.

Boys’ 100 Butterfly CJ Robison finished in sixth place.

Girls’ 100 Freestyle Lilly Perry finished in second place.

Boys’ 100 Freestyle Ryan Schneider finished in second place.

Girls’ 200 Freestyle Relay of Calley Parham, Nicole Bernussi, Lilly Perry and Kinsey Wilson finished in first place.

Boys’ 200 Freestyle Relay of Ryan Schneider, Clayton Brake, Peter Flores and Casey Nitcher won consolation finals.

Girls’ 100 Backstroke Lilly Chapman finished in third place and Jeri Cantrell finished in fourth place.

Boys’ 100 Backstroke Justin Hamby finished in third place.

Girls’ 400 Freestyle of Calley Parham, Avery Tankersley, Kinsey Wilson and Lilly Chapman finished in second place.

Boys’ 400 Freestyle of Ryan Schneider, CJ Robison, Justin Hamby and Peter Flores finished in fourth place.

 Monterey’s next meet will be on Thursday, October 26^th in Lubbock against Odessa Permian.

Junior Varsity Results 2006/2007

The JV swimmers competed against Odessa Permian in their first dual meet of the season. The swimmers did a fantastic job with several great swims and exciting races. There were many victories in individual races, but in the end both the men’s and women’s teams were defeated by Odessa Permian in a very competitive meet.

Meagan Petty:4th 200 IM, 3rd 100 breaststroke

Marissa Fielder:3rd 100 butterfly, 4th 500 freestyle

Shelby Robinson:3rd 50 free, 3rd 100 backstroke

Brienna Gregory:4th 50 freestyle,4th 100 freestyle

 Kyle Salquist:2nd 50 free, 2nd 100 backstroke

John David Boren:5th 200 IM, 2nd 100 breaststroke

Milad Ghalehei:5th 100 butterfly, 4th 500 freestyle

Thomas Carter:3rd 200 freestyle, 4th 100 freestyle

Dillon Robertson 2nd with 142.90 points

 The JV swimmers will be competing again when they travel to Pecos on November 11th.
