THE PLAYS OF 2005-2006:
*An Experiment With an Air Pump
to be performed for UIL One Act Competition
*Fortinbras
Fortinbras is a hilarious comedy by Lee Blessing. It starts begins with the death scene at the end of Hamlet. As Hamlet (junior Mason Branch) lies dying in his friend Horatio’s (senior Eric Nelson) arms, he states his last wish, that his story be remembered. He also prophesies that Fortinbras (senior Shannon Smith) will take over the country. This is when the play takes a dramatic (comedic) turn. Fortinbras is not quite the brooding intellectual that Hamlet was... He decides to cover up Hamlet’s story with a story about an out of control Polish spy, he begins seeing ghosts, has an affair with one, Ophelia, (senior Corey Swackhammer), and with the help of the simpering suck-up Osric (senior Sarah Coats) begins taking over the whole of Europe. By accident of course. Other cast members include seniors Katie Mills and Shannon McIntire and sophomores Eden Ruiz, Desi Toupin, Jenny Smith, Paul Kiowski, Lakeasha Ogles, Sarah Miller, and Lindsay Short. Crew members are headed by Stage Manager Clari Bradshaw and Technical Stage Manager Lauren Gilligan.
*You're A Good Man Charlie Brown
It’s time once again for Monterey’s annual all-school musical. This production promises to be very fun and entertaining for young and old alike. Full of humor and energy, this production includes over 30 Monterey students on cast and crew and several students from WATERS, HONEY and BEAN elementaries. The cast is headed by Seniors Eric Nelson as Charlie Brown, Corey Swackhammer as Lucy, Shannon Smith as Linus, and Chase Thomason as Schroeder. Sophomores Desi Taupin as Peppermint Patty and Jenny Smith as Snoopy also lead the cast. Technical support is headed by Senior Megan Gibson, stage manager and Junior Lauren Gilligan, technical stage manager.
