Senator Cornyn Tours the ATC

United States Senator John Cornyn, (Texas) toured the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center (ATC) on Tuesday and briefed the media on his A-PLUS (Academic Partnerships Lead Us to Success) plan to return decision-making power back to parents, teachers and local schools.  The proposal, S-893, focuses on local control and improving educational achievement.  The Act gives states flexibility to consolidate federal education programs and funding, redirecting the resources to state-driven education initiatives.  Senator Cornyn recognized the innovation demonstrated at the ATC as an example of public and private partnerships moving students to success in higher education and the workforce of a global economy. The ATC serves more than 1,100 students from across the district.
