| For the sixteenth year, the O.
L. Slaton Fine Arts Department, including theatre, choir, art and
dance, will present a major musical production. Over one hundred
and fifty students will take part in this production, with students
serving as crew heads, cast members, dancers, sound and lighting
technicians, and set construction crew. Each year O. L. Slaton has performed quality, entertaining musicals featuring music from some of the best composers. In the past O.L. Slaton has done “L’il Abner”, “Pajama Game”, “Hello Dolly”, “South Pacific”, “Oklahoma”, “Guys and Dolls”, “ Anything Goes” and “Bye, Bye Birdie” . “Annie” will be a great addition to these other fine selections. O. L. Slaton provides many performance opportunities during the school year including plays presented to elementary schools, dinner theatres, performance Fridays, one-act play festivals, Dance Troupe, Swing Choir, Jazz Band and UIL sweepstake award winning band, choir and orchestra. Our Fine Arts Department works very closely to give students experience in all areas of fine arts. On the last Friday of each six weeks students have the opportunity to perform dramatic material, sing solos, present orchestra and band musical pieces, or any other performance that they would like to present. This opportunity to perform not only increases their confidence and skills, but also provides a chance to demonstrate proper audience etiquette. |
