Lesson Plan: Getting to Know You

Subject Areas: Journalism and/or Writing

Objective: To help students develop the skills needed to conduct interviews for a school publication

Materials: AlphaSmart 3000 or Dana by AlphaSmart, and a computer or printer

As new school personnel and/or students come to a building, instruct students to use the AlphaSmart 3000 or Dana to record notes for a "Getting to Know You" article. Files 1-7 on the AlphaSmart 3000 or Dana can each contain a question or area of inquiry. Students take notes in these files during the interview. The article can then be compiled in File 8 using the cut, copy, and paste features. Once the article is finished, it can be sent directly to a newsletter publishing product or printed directly from Dana or AlphaSmart 3000.
