A note from your Parent Liaison …
Hello, I would like to introduce myself. My name is April Benavidez, and I serve as Parent Liaison for Smylie Wilson. As many of you know, I began working at Wilson three years ago and have helped many families over the years. Some of you may be asking yourself, "What is a Parent Liaison?" I consult with school personnel, administration and teachers to establish and maintain parent activities which support academic achievement at home as well as school. I also facilitate communication among parents, teachers, administrators, school staff, and the community. I can help qualify parents with Food Vouchers, Parenting Classes, Parent Volunteering, School Supply Vouchers, Assistance with Clothing, Hygiene Vouchers, Home Visits and Setting up a Parent/Teacher Conference. To put it in a nut shell, I try to get parents involved in their children’s education. Whether it is working with volunteers, scheduling meetings with teachers or making home visits, I love what I do and look forward to working with you. Wilson Middle School encourages parent involvement. To find out what you can do to become more involved in your child's education or if you would like to volunteer at any special events please contact me, April Benavidez, at 766-0804. We need, want and appreciate volunteers. We would love for you to take part in the Wilson Middle School LEARN Spirit!! When you are in the school, feel free to stop by my office for a visit. I am located in the copy room annex. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you! |
