Welcome students, parents, and
visitors to the 2007-2008 school year at Wheelock! The start of
school has been a good one. My thanks to you! Our teachers have
met the challenge in providing the best possible educational
experience for all students.
We welcome the opportunity to
provide several parental involvement sessions throughout the
year. Let me encourage you to take advantage of these sessions,
as they will be informative, fun, and interactive. Please review
our school’s Calendar of Events for the year and be informed of
these opportunities. Also, you are encouraged to volunteer in
your child’s classroom and/or PTA activities.
These are some reminders of
procedures currently in place here at Wheelock:
-
All
doors will be locked from 8:15 – 2:30, except the front door.
-
The
school’s hours are 7:55 – 3:00. Students may enter their
classroom at 7:45, and the tardy bell rings at 7:55.
-
Wheelock’s Discipline Plan implemented last year will again be
in effect. Teachers will discuss the plan with you at GOALS
conferences.
-
All
visitors are asked to check in the office prior to going to the
classrooms.
-
Character Counts and Boys Town Skills are emphasized and
reinforced in many ways. Having good character truly does count
at Wheelock!
-
Call
the office anytime your child is absent. Also, don’t forget to
turn in Dr.’s notes/excuses.
-
Help your
child be a good reader by establishing a nightly reading time!
Reading A.R. books and taking tests to accumulate points is an
excellent way to get students to read while earning rewards.
Please feel
free to come by and see me at anytime for any questions, concerns
or just to say, “Hi!”
Let’s make this year at Wheelock the best one yet!
Sincerely,
Del Lopez |
