  • After 28 years of service to Lubbock ISD, Kathy Rollo Ed.D, began her tenure as superintendent of Lubbock ISD on February 1, 2018. Dr. Rollo, having grown up in Lubbock, never strayed too far from her roots. She earned her bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees from Texas Tech University and forged her career in the very district that cultivated her love for teaching.

Rollo taught at Hunt, Martin and Waters elementary schools, before being named an assistant principal at Rush and Haynes Elementary Schools. Kathy became the principal at Murfee Elementary, which she guided for ten years. In 2009, the district sought a visionary leader respected by her peers to lead Lubbock ISD’s first professional development department. Kathy Rollo was the obvious choice. She forged new partnerships and provided tools and training for educators and administrators to increase the depth of teaching and learning in the classroom, including a more sophisticated use of data to guide instruction.

Dr. Rollo was promoted to associate superintendent for elementary schools in 2013 and remained in that position until the summer of 2017, when she left the district to be an instructor in the College of Education at Texas Tech University. An avid supporter of public education, Dr. Rollo has in-depth experience in every aspect. In addition to her work within the district, Dr. Rollo is a trailblazer in the Lubbock community, having won numerous awards for her service. She is married to Robert Rollo, and they have three adult sons, all graduates of Lubbock ISD.
