Lubbock High School is home to the most robust Advanced Academics department in the Panhandle. We offer more than 40 AP and IB courses, and we are the only school in West Texas with not one but two incredible pathways for upperclassmen, offering juniors and seniors the AP Capstone (AP Cap) or the International Baccalaureate (IB) routes.
The IB and AP class of 2020 received $10 million in scholarship offers and were accepted to some of the most prestigious universities in the world: Harvard University, M.I.T., Pepperdine, Cornell University, Rice University, University of Texas, Baylor University, Oxford University, University of Alabama, Boston University, Creighton, Indiana University, University of Washington, University of Pennsylvania, Southwestern, University of Minnesota, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, our very own Texas Tech University, and many more.
Our academic programs thrive because of dedicated faculty who are experts in their field(s) committed to our students’ world class education and because of students who embrace the challenge, hold themselves to high standards, and foster an academically-minded culture wherein personal growth and scholarship are paramount.

Erin Castle
Erin Castle, Transfer Specialist and AP Capstone/IB Coordinator
Mrs. Castle (who prefers just “Castle”) began her teaching career in 2009 as a graduate instructor of “college rhetoric” at Texas Tech, but many years prior to that she began her life’s work lining up her stuffed animals and skeptical neighborhood kids to deliver reading and writing lessons. Growing up, Erin dreamed of many careers: checker, actress, lawyer, veterinarian, writer. Teaching, though, drew her back again and again. After earning a Master’s in English and her teaching certification, she started teaching at Lubbock High, her alma mater, in January 2013 (if for no other reason than to prove the old saying “Once a Westerner, Always a Westerner” true). In 2019-20 (in retrospect not the best year to change jobs), Mrs. Castle took over as the Transfer Specialist and IB and AP Capstone Coordinator. Whatever programs have drawn you to Lubbock High School, Mrs. Castle looks forward to helping you shape your junior and senior year within L.H.S.’s second-to-none AP Capstone or International Baccalaureate coursework.
