E. C. Struggs

  • Edward Cecil Struggs, affectionately known as “Prof” and “Prof Struggs,” lead the development of African American schools in Lubbock for 35 years. He was the longest-serving principal at Dunbar High School (1930 - 1965). He not only served as a great educator, but was also an outstanding community leader, serving on the board of Carver Heights Nursery and the Southeast Lubbock Development Agency. E. C. Struggs Junior High School was founded in 1965 and named in his honor.
