    The Title I Parental Involvement section of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires each Title I school to jointly develop with and distribute to parents of participating children, a written parental involvement policy. The purpose of Title I is to provide activities and services which support students in meeting the state’s academic standards.  



    Parental Involvement Policy Requirements

    The school will  involve parents in the joint development and joint agreement of its School Parental Involvement Policy and its school wide plan, if applicable, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way under section 1118(b) of the ESEA.

    -Organize PTA, IES-SST & GOALS confer. Mtgs.

    -Org. a Par.Invlvmt. Com. & Camp. Leadership Team/CIP

    -Provide parents with a calendar of events & survey.

    -Develop a Compact btwn. Parents/Teachers/Students.

    The school will distribute to parents of participating children and the local community, the School Parental Involvement Policy.

    -LISD & Hodges Website.

    -Title 1 Committee Meeting

    -GOALS Day, Parent / Teacher Conferences

    The school will convene an annual meeting to inform parents of the following:

    -Title 1 Awareness Meeting during parent meetings.

     -Parental Invlvmt. Plan, Parent Compact, & Calendar

    The school will provide to parents of participating children a

    description and explanation of the curriculum in use at the

    school, the forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet.

    -GOALS Conferences W/Parents & Teachers

    -Weekly Take Home Folders-STAAR awareness

    -Student Progress Reports & Report Cards

    -TEKS expect. Grade Book access, Par. Newsletters

    -Pre-K & Kindergarten Orientation Meeting

    Shared Responsibilities for High Student Academic Achievement

    The school will build the schools’ and parent’s capacity for  strong parental involvement, in order to ensure effective involvement of parents and to support a partnership among the school involved, parents, and the community to improve student academic achievement.

    -GOALS Day & Parental Involvement Committee.

    -Open House, PTA & Title 1 Awareness Mtg.

    - Brown Bag Lunch Mtgs., Bldg. Strong Fam. Confer.

    --Reading Awareness & Health Fair Night

    - Parent Meetings (STAAR) & Parenting Classes

    The school will, with the assistance of its district, provide

    materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve their children’s academic achievement, such as literacy training, and using technology, as appropriate, to foster parental involvement.

    -Title 1 Meeting- Monthly Parenting Meetings.

    -Annual Building Strong Families Conference.

    -Reading & Math, Science Connection, Technology

      Parent /Student / Teacher Night.

    -PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supt.)

    -AVID College & Career Evening Presentation.

    The school will, with the assistance of its district and parents,

    educate its teachers, pupil services personnel, principals and

    other staff, in how to reach out to, communicate with, and work

    with parents as equal partners, in the value and utility of contributions of parents, and in how to implement and coordinate parent programs and build ties between parents and schools.

    -Soc.Wker will provide Title 1 Parent Training W/staff.

    -Social Worker will make necessary home visits.

    -Title 1 planning committee & attend PTA meetings

    - Attend Building Strong Families Conference

    -Organize parent morning, lunch & evening Meetings

    -District Title 1 Meeting & Title 1 Awareness Mtg.

    The school will, to the extent feasible and appropriate, take the

    following actions to ensure that information related to the school

    and parent-programs, meetings, and other activities, is sent to the

    parents of participating children in an understandable and

    uniform format, including alternative formats upon request, and, to the extent practicable, in a language the parents can understand.

    -Hard copy of parent calendar, invitations & survey.

    -LISD All Call System & Website

    -SST, ARD, Parent Survey, CIP, GPS parent conferences, home visits, and phone calls

    -Weekly Take Home Folders & newsletters.

    -Letters of notification from the state/federal level


    Building Capacity for Involvement

    The School Parental Involvement Policy may include additional discretionary activities that the school, in consultation with its parents, chooses to undertake to build parents’ capacity for involvement in the school to support their children’s academic achievement.

    -Parent morning, lunch & evening educational mtgs.

    -Perfect Attendance & Family Literacy Mtgs.

    -Red Ribbon & Shaking Baby Educational Programs

    -PTA Health & Book Fair Night  

    -AVID College & Career Night, Monthly News Letters
