Secondary Level Programs
Language! Live is a comprehensive English Language Arts curriculum for struggling adolescent readers and writers. It blends engaging online instruction with targeted teacher-directed instruction to help learners close the reading and writing gap. The goal of LANGUAGE! Live is to accelerate students’ literacy growth so they meet grade-level expectations and can successfully participate in core instruction. Students enter the program at a point designated to meet their instructional needs. Students have the opportunity to progress through the online word training component at their own pace—allowing for demonstration of mastery early on and sparing students precious time working on skills they have already mastered. Language! Live is offered to dyslexic students who receive services under Section 504 as well students who receive special education services.
SPIRE is a comprehensive, multisensory reading program based on the Orton-Gillingham approach that integrates phonological awareness, phonics, handwriting, fluency, vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension. Students take a placement test and enter the program at a point designated to meet their instructional needs. Students progress through levels (Level 1-8) where targeted instruction progresses from basic to more advanced phonics/decoding concepts. SPIRE is only offered for students who receive special education services.
