In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC), §28.0256, beginning with students enrolled in 12th grade during the 2021-2022 school year, each student must do one of the following in order to graduate:
- Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
- Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA); or
- Submit a signed opt-out form.
Families are able to complete the financial aid application on their own at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa or you can schedule an appointment with LEARN to get help completing this task. The LHS LEARN Advisor information can be found on the LHS Counselor Website under the link titled "LEARN" or you can contact your student's alpha counselor if you have any questions. We encourage you to complete this task by the Texas state preferred deadline of January 15th in order for your student to receive any possible financial aid offers.

Students that are not able to complete the FASFA or TASFA must see their counselor to review this option.
