Children must be 4 years old on or before September 1st of the school year in order to enroll in the Lubbock ISD Pre-Kindergarten/Head Start program. There is no early entry into per-kindergarten for students of Lubbock ISD.
Children who are not eligible for the state funded pre-kindergarten or Head Start program may attend Lubbock ISD’s Pre-Kindergarten program on a tuition basis.
Out-of-district students may attend the Lubbock ISD Pre-Kindergarten program on a tuition basis. There are no tuition waivers available for students who live outside the Lubbock ISD attendance zone.
To be eligible for a tuition waiver, a child must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- unable to speak and comprehend the English language
- economically disadvantaged
- child of an active duty member of the armed forces or whose parent was injured or killed while serving on active duty
- child is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code
