Out-of-District Transfers

Regular Transfers From Outside Lubbock ISD (Out-of-District)

  • A nonresident student living outside the Lubbock ISD boundaries that desires to attend school in the district can apply online for a transfer to a school found on the “open to transfer” list during the transfer application window (January 9, 2019 – January 25, 2019). This type of transfer is referred to as an interdistrict transfer. All regular intradistrict and interdistrict transfers will be considered on a "First Come, First Serve" basis.  Please review the information "How To Submit a Transfer Request."

After reviewing enrollment projections and the capacity of our campuses (physical space and staffing), a list of schools open to this type transfer is established (Please see below). Students may apply online for an interdistict transfer to one of these open campuses during the transfer application window (January 9, 2019 – January 25, 2019).  The transfer window will open at 8:00 a.m. on January 9, 2019.  The window will close at 5:00 p.m. on January 25, 2019.

If the student’s interdistrict transfer application is approved the student is not required to submit a new application each year while at that school. It is important to note that at the conclusion of the school year a transfer may be nonrenewed for one of the reasons addressed in the transfer agreement. Students completing elementary school and seeking a transfer to middle school must apply online to a campus found on the "open" list.  The parent/guardian will submit the completed online application.  Students on an interdistrict transfer to one of the LISD middle schools will receive an approved transfer to the feeder high school connected to that middle school for the student’s 9th grade year so long as the student's transfer has not been nonrenewed. A new transfer online application for these freshman is required to be completed online.

Deadline: Transfer request forms must be submitted online by January 25, 2019 for the 2019 - 2020 school year.

Transportation: It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to provide transportation for the student for which a transfer into Lubbock ISD has been granted.
