Khan Academy (link to the right) is a free online tool that can be used by ALL of our Lubbock ISD learners, from early childhood through graduation! Parents can use this tool to provide support and enrichment to their child from home. Teachers can use this tool to provide personalized instruction to students for both intervention and enrichment purposes.
The "How-To" document below explains how a parent can set up an account, as well as how both parents and teachers can be set up as a "coach" for students within Khan Academy. Parents, please note that a teacher's usage of this program with any child under the age of 13 will be limited if the parent does not first set up an account and approve or request the teacher to serve as a "coach."
The "How-To" document will also show how parents can enter a student's 2nd-5th grade MAP Math scores into Khan Academy in order to create a personalized learning plan that addresses the immediate strengths and weaknesses of that student in Math.

Khan Academy provides a personalized learning resource for all ages. They offer practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. They tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics and more. Khan math missions guide learners from kindergarten through calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. Khan Academy also partners with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
