THE DISTRICT TRANSFER DEADLINE OF FEBRUARY 3, 2023 DOES NOT APPLY TO PREK TRANSFERS. PREK REGISTRATION WILL OPEN ON APRIL 6, 2023, AND TRANSFER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THAT TIME.

Application and Enrollment Steps
- Register online at LubbockISD.org/registration.
- Take the following documents to your home campus:
- Your child's
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Records
- Social Security Card (if available)
- Your
- Address Verification (utility bill, rent receipt, or lease agreement)
- Your child's
- Schedule your enrollment appointment
A child's enrollment is not complete until online registration and an enrollment appointment have been completed.

In District Transfers
The district transfer deadline of February 3, 2023 does NOT apply to PreK transfers. PreK transfer applications will open in April 2023.
Application and Enrollment steps if you would like your child to attend a campus other than your home school:
- Register online at LubbockISD.org/registration.
- Submit a transfer request through your online registration. Instructions can be found HERE.
- If you entered your transfer before completing online registration, please call us at 219-0340 so we can locate your transfer.
- Take the following documents to your HOME campus - NOT the campus you are requesting a transfer to:
- Your child's
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Records
- Social Security Card (if available)
- Your
- Address Verification (utility bill, rent receipt, or lease agreement)
- Your child's
- Schedule your enrollment appointment

Out of District Transfers
The district transfer deadline of February 3, 2023 does NOT apply to PreK transfers. PreK transfer applications will open in April 2023.
Application and Enrollment steps if your child lives outside of the Lubbock ISD school district:
- Register online at LubbockISD.org/registration.
- During the registration process, it will give you the option to select the campus you would like your child to attend.
- Submit a transfer request through your online registration. Instructions can be found HERE.
- Take the following documents to the campus you are requesting a transfer to:
- Your child's
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Records
- Social Security Card (if available)
- Your
- Address Verification (utility bill, rent receipt, or lease agreement)
- Your child's

PreK and Head Start Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO WE QUALIFY FOR FREE PREKINDERGARTEN IN LUBBOCK ISD?
To be eligible for free prekindergarten a child must:
- Be four years of age on or before September 1 of the school year
- Live within the boundaries of the Lubbock Independent school district
AND meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Be homeless
- Be unable to speak or understand English
- Be economically disadvantaged
- Be the child of an active-duty member of the U.S. military or one who has been killed, injured, or missing in action while on active duty
- Is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing
- Be the child of a nominee for the Star of Texas Award

HOW DO I REGISTER MY CHILD FOR PREKINDERGARTEN?
Step one is to complete the online registration forms. Online registration can be found at www.lubbockisd.org. Once online registration is complete the following documents must be taken to the child’s home campus for verification:
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Record
- Proof of Residency (utility bill with address)
- Social Security Card (if available)
Finally, you must complete an eligibility appointment. A child’s space at a campus is not guaranteed until online registration, document verification and an eligibility appointment have all been completed.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD’S NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL IS FULL?
If there are more applicants than spaces available for a campus, students from the home attendance zone will receive priority and be placed first. If there are more applicants within the home attendance zone than spaces available, there will be a computer-generated random selection. Students not able to be placed at the home campus will be offered a space at a nearby campus with space available.

WHAT IF I WANT MY CHILD TO ATTEND PREKINDERGARTEN AT A CAMPUS OTHER THAN THEIR HOME SCHOOL?
Once all eligible children living in the home attendance zone are placed, transfer requests will be considered in the following order:
- Children with siblings that attend the requested campus
- Qualifying students that live within the Lubbock ISD attendance zone
- Tuition-paying students that live within the Lubbock ISD attendance zone
- Out-of-district students
If there are more students who request a transfer than there are spaces available, spaces will be assigned using a computer-generated random selection.

WHAT PROOF OF INCOME DO I NEED TO BRING TO MY ELIGIBILITY APPOINTMENT?
The following documents are acceptable as proof of income:
- Current paycheck stub
- Letter from employer station gross wages paid and how often they are paid
- Unemployment, Worker's Compensation, or Disability payment stub
- Last year's tax return

DOES LUBBOCK ISD OFFER PREKINDERGARTEN FOR THREE-YEAR-OLDS?
Lubbock ISD Head Start enrolls three-year-old children at Alderson, Carmona-Harrison, Ervin, and Hodges Elementary. The child must reside in the campus's attendance zone and they must qualify for Head Start in order to attend.

Lubbock ISD is proud to offer PreKindergarten at all campuses throughout the district. PreKindergarten offers an exciting curriculum aligned to kindergarten standards and will challenge students as it prepares them for the rigors of kindergarten. PreKindergarten offers learning experiences based on current research and certified teachers who receive ongoing professional development to hone their skills. Instruction is engaging and is designed to meet the needs of each learner.
