School Nurse

  • Illness and Your Child

    • If your child is ill and has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, please keep them home from school until they are fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
    • If your child is vomiting or has diarrhea, they need to be kept at home. They need to be free of vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.

Your child will be sent home from school if they have:

    • Temperature of 100 degrees or greater
    • Vomiting or diarrhea

State Law requires that all 7th grade students have Tdap, MCV4(meningitis vaccine) and a 2nd dose of Varicella. If you have received a letter and/or a phone call regarding missing immunizations, please contact the school nurse as soon as possible at (806) 219-3800.

If your student takes any medication while at school, please bring the medication to the nurses' office and complete a medication permission form. All medication including any over the counter meds will need to be given to the nurse and a permission form signed by a parent. If it is a prescription med it will need to be in the prescription bottle with the most current prescription label. If it is an over the counter med, please make sure it is in a new, small bottle, original container. If it is not in a new, and small bottle, the nurse will not be able to accept it in the clinic.

Due to LISD policy, we are not able to send any medication home with a student. All meds will need to be picked up by a parent or responsible adult. No meds are allowed to be left in the clinic over the summer. Any medicine left after school is out is sent to Central Office and destroyed.
