The basic purpose of the Lubbock ISD (LISD) Athletic Program and its operation is to help each student become the best person he or she can be. No student is obligated to participate in athletics, nor is participation required for graduation. In accordance with LISD Board Policy and Due Process Procedures, LISD has the authority to suspend or revoke the privilege of student participation in athletics when the rules and the standards of the Athletic Program are not followed. For additional information regarding the Athlete’s, Parent’s and Coach’s responsibilities, see the LISD Athletic Policy.
For additional general information and resources regarding the Athletic Department select the Head Coaches/General Athletic Files on the LISD Athletic website (you must be singed in to the LISD website to view the documents). The LISD Athletic Management Handbook is available through this site and shall be used to assist applicable parties with the understanding of regulations concerning the athletic programs of LISD. Lubbock ISD Middle Schools shall also abide by the Lubbock County Middle School District Athletic Policies.
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is the governing body of the athletic programs in Texas public schools. Therefore, the LISD Board of Education, administrators, coaches, and teachers will fully support the UIL and its enforcement of the rules.
Any additional questions or concerns regarding athletics that are not addressed in the above policies or handbooks can be addressed to the Athletic Department.
