Lubbock High School LEAP (Lubbock Exemplary Academic Program) and International Baccalaureate (IB) OVERVIEW
LEAP offers classes for academically talented students from not only the entire school district but also West Texas.
To qualify for LEAP, the student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and have passed all portions of STAAR.
Embedded within LEAP, is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. IB is an internationally recognized challenging curriculum for highly motivated juniors and seniors. IB teaches students to relate classroom experiences to the realities of the world. The IB Diploma prepares students for any university in the world, and passing scores on the IB exams may earn significant college credit.
Lubbock High offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses, AP Capstone, and for our freshmen and sophomores, International Scholar (IS) courses. IS classes ably prepare the student for either AP or IB.
In addition to IB, AP, and IS, Lubbock High School is the only area high school to offer competitive gymnastics, dance, and Naval Junior ROTC.
Lubbock High School is a microcosm of contemporary society. Within the friendly, open, and welcoming atmosphere of the student body, a student learns the social skills necessary for survival and success in our competitive, globalized world. The multi-cultural experiences which a student enjoys at Lubbock High School are a significant part of the total experience through LEAP.
